Things to Do During Holiday Vacations

Taking vacations should not be ignored. In the fast-paced life that we live in, it is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Like a preventive medicine, frequent vacations decrease our risk from stress-related illnesses and help save money on health care. Aside from these stress relief benefits, it also provides the much needed break to recharge our mind and body. After a relaxing vacation, we are more alert and alive, ready to face the challenging tasks ahead.

First of all, you have to decide the purpose of your travel. Whether you want to explore a particular city, do something that you always wanted to do but never find the time (like catch up on your reading), or just to rest and unwind. Then you need to choose a place where you can go. There are many cities in your country or in the world that you can explore. If you want a quiet time all by yourself, you can head for the beach or an island somewhere.

Once you have decided on your purpose and destination, you will now plan your itinerary or list of activities while you are away. It is important to know what you can do to maximize your holiday. Here are some suggestions:

City Holiday

  • Get a city map and highlight the places of interest or tourist spots that you can visit.
  • Instead of eating in the usual fast food chain that you are familiar with, try to eat in the city’s local restaurants to taste their native cuisine.
  • Walk in the streets and ride in their local mode of transport to feel their way of life. Remember to ask your hotel concierge for directions to get to a certain place and do not wear flashy clothing or jewelries.
  • Shop where the locals do. Special tourist shopping malls or stores are a bit more expensive.
  • Remember to schedule a day for some downtime. You can’t fit everything in one trip, and don’t forget that you are still in a vacation which means that you have to put in a little rest and relaxation.

Beach Holiday

  • For total relaxation, be sure to grab a lounge chair near the water. Hear the soothing sounds of the waves splashing on the shore. Feel the warm sun on your skin and just allow the pleasant breeze to clear your mind.
  • You can also walk along the shoreline for some exercise or change of scenery. Feel the water and the sand on your feet. Take the walk with a lighthearted conversation from a friend or you can just enjoy your own company.
  • The next favorite activity to do at the beach aside from swimming is people watching. Sit back and watch other people walk, talk, play games and have a good time. You will notice a little smile forming on your face as you watch.
  • Build castles in the sand with or without kids. Bring a shovel and bucket and unleash your creativity. You will definitely enjoy this.
  • Have a picnic. Bring your family and friends together with a lot of packed food and spread out a blanket in one of the tables along the beach.

Whether you are going to the city or to the beach, don’t forget to bring sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun. And of course, take lots of pictures.

Positives and Negatives of Each Transport

Traveling around the world can be accomplished by many different transports. Each one of them possesses some positives and negatives. One part can conduct more comfort, other less spent money, but in the end, every person chooses his or her own way. Hence, according to your desires and understandings, you have to pick the one, which will be best for you. What I can do henceforth, is to show you all existing benefits and drawbacks of each transport.

To begin with, I would like to offer the fastest one conceivable transportation, the aircraft. There isn’t any other way of traveling which can provide such quickness when taking you to the desired resort than the airplane. Moreover, this isn’t the only convenience. During the flight you will be serviced kindly and cautiously from the air staff. Unlike some other transports you will have personal seat as well as at least one meal. Additionally, you won’t be restricted to go the toilet whenever the co-driver decides, something possible in other kinds of transports, where there are no pilots, but drivers. What is more, you will be a witness of one of the most remarkable views. Through the small plane’s window you will be able to enjoy the exciting aspect of which the Earth is seen and more specifically its lands, seas and oceans. Interest for you will be even the size of the buildings noticed from so many kilometers height. If we can reckon that for a drawback, you won’t be able to be amongst the Mother Nature down on the ground.

In the second place, I want to introduce another favorite to me transport, the bus. Here we can find many pluses as well. Although most of the people do not like traveling by bus because of the crowded environment, this is the perfect place to make new friendships. For instance, there will be an opportunity to create a strong bond with foreign people. I am confident about this because the trip is neither quite short nor very prolonged. I mean that you will have sufficient time to get along with different people thanks to the boredom, which can be generated. But this isn’t all. Thanks to the fact that you are not the driver, which can be a possible option if you travel by car, you can catch and even picture each landmark on your way to the final point. For some people the most important characteristic of traveling is the price. Congratulations, this is the cheapest one conceivable. Every person can afford it.

There are other transports like the car and the train, but they do not deserve to be used for long distance. The only reason in which they can be profitable is if they are means for traveling in your own country.

International Travel Insurance For Comfortable Travel

International travel insurance has been a catch phrase for people who have taken trips abroad and have visited different places across the globe. All the trips of people have normally been accompanied with travel insurance to cover the said trip and protect the individual. But the question remains as to what these travel insurance policies really are and if these are truly justified with the welfare of the traveler.

As a matter of course, these insurance policies are very important to say the least. There are explanations of course, as to why such insurance is very important to the tourist or the traveler. It is worthy to note of several reasons in making the acquisition of travel insurance an important exercise.

When it comes to international travel insurance, there are many choices and alternatives to take. There is an inventory of choices for you to take and there are different plans which may be tailor fit to suit your requirements and cover you for any accident which may happen in the course of your traveling. There are basically four types of insurance coverage terms.

1) Emergency medical insurance. This provides full coverage for diagnosis and medical attention to an injury or illness which happens during travel.

2) Trip interruption or cancellation. The reasons for trip cancellation are varied and may range within the following reasons: illness, forfeiture of assets, traffic accident along the way, termination from employment, crime, terrorist attack, inclement weather, strike, or other civic duties.

3) Misplaced luggage insurance. This insurance answers the costs of lost, stolen, damaged or delayed luggage for more than 12 hours against personal items and expenses.

4) Trip accident coverage. This basically provides insurance coverage during your flights abroad.

You should take extra care to plan ahead and prepare enough for you and your family when considering which worldwide travel insurance to take. While opting not to take insurance for yourself, it is best to realize that saving a few dollars might not be worth it compared to the potential risk you take when you do not have a comprehensive insurance coverage.

For a minuscule amount of money, you can afford good and adequate protection for you and your family with travel insurance for any unforeseen circumstance or emergency situation. It is better to be insured comprehensively, with provisions for insurance that is wide-ranging, from delayed luggage to flight cancellation. Remember that the few dollars you save from not getting insurance may not be worth the risk you are exposing yourself.

Similar to other insurance coverage policies, the travel insurance functions by taking into consideration all the possible risks and untoward circumstances which may happen to you and your family. While the insurer would present you with the different insurance coverage proposals, it is up to you to select which program or coverage would best suit your needs.

Food In South East Asia

South East Asia – Food to Eat

South East Asian food is extremely diverse and varied. It is influenced by traditional food from each country’s native indigenous population as well as major influences from Indian cooking to the west, Chinese cooking to the north and Pacific and Indian ocean islander cooking. Of course, in today’s multicultural world you can find literally any international food to eat in any of South East Asia’s cities.

Let’s take a look at food in Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.

Cambodian cuisine

Cambodian food is like most Asian food in the region, however, Phnom Penh is famous for its Ka tieu, which is a variation on a rice-noodle soup made of rice noodles with pork broth. It is spicy and sweet at the same time.

As with most Asian food, Cambodian food is based on the staples of rice and noodles, which are either made into a hearty soup or used as the base for a dish made with meat and vegetables which is placed on top.

Some of the herbs and spices that are used in Cambodian cooking which give the food its unique flavor are Rice paddy herbs, fishwort, peppermint, chives, water spinach, Chinese broccoli, bok choy and different types of yams.

For meat, regular meat is used the most such as beef, pork and chicken, however, because Cambodia has such vast access to the best seafood in the world their cuisine is also heavily based on the fruits of the sea.

Vietnamese cooking

Vietnamese food is often called the ‘light cuisine’ of Asia. Filled with fresh herbs and greens, a dash of grilled or fried meat either served in soup or on a plate with noodles or rice, the Vietnamese eat a lot but in small quantities at a time. Food to eat in Vietnam is very easy to find in most places even 24 hours a day, so no matter how tired you are after a long day at the beach or trekking through the jungle, you’ll always find a hearty soup to fill your stomach.

You won’t be able to spend enough time – probably not even a lifetime is enough – to try out the over 1,200 recipes that are part of Vietnamese cooking!

Malaysian gourmet

As with many other Asian foods, Malay cuisine is heavily based on the staples of rice and noodles, served with greens and fried or grilled vegetables. Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur in particular has always a travel hub for all of Asia and as a result its food isn’t a monolithic one-flavor-fits-all, but a mix of Malay, Indian, Eurasian, Chinese, Nyonya and Bornean indigenous tribal food.

With the thousands of recipes available and the time required to eat them all, it doesn’t really matter where you start. But once you do, you’ll never stop.

Singapore delicacies

As with Malaysia, Singapore is an ethnic travel hub for much of Asia and its food hails from Chinese, Indonesian and Indian backgrounds as well as a lot of English influence from the old colonial days. The concept of cafes and restaurants is not alien to Singapore, but most people prefer to eat their meals in food courts instead if they’re not cooking at home.
